2019 Goals

What I want to do differently in 2019. My 2019 goals!
I don’t want to call these resolutions.
Because resolutions are meant to be broken, right?
And, I don’t want to feel like I have to force myself to do these things, so I can make 2018 me happy.
So, today I am writing a post about the things I want to do different in 2019, things that I think will make me happier.

2019 goals
In 2019 I want to:
Put more time aside to write
Spend more time on my hobbies: Painting, Scrapbooking, creating
Pay off some more credit cards!
Save to buy a home at the beginning of 2020
Cook more
Do more things that make me happy and less things that don’t
That’s it.

A short list of the things I hope to do differently in 2019.
The writing and hobbies are simply about making time for them… maybe have some kind of schedule.
Nothing too concrete, you never know what the day will throw at you, but something I can loosely base my days on.
Paying off credit cards and saving for a home is all about budget.
And as my mom has been preaching this year, both to me and herself, you have to make a realistic budget.
If you want to eat out once a week you have to put that into your budget, don’t take out things you enjoy doing because then you’ll ultimately end up ruining your budget.
And cooking is all about finding the right days to do it.
I am so exhausted by the time I get home from work, especially this time of year, when it’s already dark by the time I get home.
So maybe I need to pick specific days to cook, that way I’m mentally prepared for it.
And, maybe I need to cook more on the weekends, I have the time, so why not use it…
That would require cutting back on some Netflix and Hulu. But, I think I can do it!
And finally, I need to do more things that make me happy and less things that don’t.
One thing I’ve noticed that I do that ultimately ends up making me unhappy is reading blogs about making money blogging.
I know it sounds silly…
But I’ll spend hours reading how these people make money blogging,
And even though the blogs are set up to inspire you to start making money blogging too…
I feel inadequate after reading them, like I’m not good enough, because my blog barely gets any views compared these blogs.
But I’ve learned recently… From Seth Godin, whose new book I can’t wait to read!
That you need to blog for yourself first and foremost.
If you are blogging just for yourself, because you love what you are writing, whether people are reading it or not, then you’re doing it wrong.
So this year, I’m going to do it right!
I’m going to focus solely on my blog and writing what I love for my blog…
And I’m going to try my best to stay away from any blogs that are trying to tell you how to make money from blogging.

Oh, also…
For my bookish goal this year!
Last year I wanted to try to read more nonfiction and I think I did a pretty good job.
I read more memoirs and books on marketing and business building this year.
Hoping to keep that up this year and…
Read comic books!
I’ve never really been a comic book reader, but within the last couple years I’ve gotten really into The Flash TV Show, and recently I became obsessed with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch on Netflix.
I’m also a huge Deadpool fan…
So now I want to read those comics as well as other comics and just get more into the whole comic book world.
I know I’m late, but better late than never, right?
Well, that’s it.

What are your 2019 Goals?
I’m currently reading Fangirl, so I’m hoping to have a review up later this week for you!
Happy Holidays
Merry Christmas
And happy reading, may you get all the best bookish gifts and every book you asked for!
